FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes, we are a licensed general contractor, licensed home improvement contractor, and are fully insured.

How long have you been in business?

J. White Handyman opened April 1, 2016.

What do you specialize in?

We opened our business because we discovered a need in our area for handy people that can tackle smaller residential construction projects and repairs. We decided to model our company to fill that need. We offer a broad range of home repair services, with custom carpentry and painting being the areas where we shine best.

What size projects are too big or too small?

No project is too small! We do not typically take on whole house renovations, whole house exterior painting or additions. Our business model is set up to fulfill smaller project needs for homeowners in our community. If you need a recommendation for a larger construction company we are happy to pass on names of some good ones we know.

Are there repairs/work you don’t do?

There are some things we don’t do in-house, but we have contacts and referrals in most specialty areas. These include landscaping, masonry, tiling, electrical, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, roofing, and appliance repair.

What is your construction experience?

John and I (Linda) both had full careers in construction before starting our company. John’s previous experience includes roofing, wall board, foundations, siding, commercial furniture installations, carpentry (rough and finish) and painting. My previous experience includes architectural design, estimating and construction project management. But, I’d say I’ve learned more at JWHDC than all of my previous experience combined!

What sets J. White Handyman Design & Construction apart?

We are a family owned and operated company, working hand-in-hand on every project from beginning to end. We personally oversee every project from our first client meeting through the on-site work to completion. Our priorities are consistent on every project - clear and regular communication, attention to every detail on and off site, and doing what it takes to deliver high quality results on time and in budget. Once we begin a job we are there until the contract scope is completed. We do not have multiple major projects in progress at the same time.

How do you charge and do you take credit cards?

We provide a project-based estimate including materials and labor. In some cases homeowners will furnish specialty materials, fixtures or finishes. Yes, we do take credit cards online with an added 3% processing fee. We also accept checks, cash and Venmo.
